The word hypnosis derives from Greek mythology. God “Hypnos” was famous for
his ability to induce sleep. However, hypnosis is not a state of sleep, but is a natural,
trans-like state of mind that produces extraordinary levels of relaxation and focus.
Hypnosis can transcend the critical, analytical levels of thinking, and facilitate
the acceptance of suggestions. The therapeutic use of Hypnosis can also
elicit information and insights from the inner mind. In order to
achieve effective and lasting results, hypnotherapists
use interviews, discussions, and many other
hypnotic techniques.

Each of us goes in and out of hypnosis just about every day. For example,
daydreaming in itself, is an altered state of awareness, which directs your focus
inwards. If you ever have been engulfed through reading, enwrapped by a TV program,
or realized that you remembered no details from the last 10 minutes of driving, you
have experienced light hypnosis. Of course, when the session is directed by
a professional, you go into deeper stages, where the power of hypnosis
shines in all its might. Hypnotic state is an acquired state,
whereas repetition makes every following session easier
to achieve. Hypnosis can be performed on anyone,
but mentally challenged individuals.

The brain and the nervous system respond only to mental images. Every
thought or idea causes a physical reaction. Worry thoughts trigger changes in
the stomach that in time can lead to ulcer development. Anger thoughts stimulate
your adrenal glands. Overproduced adrenalin and cortisol consequently cause obesity
and diabetes, among other problems. Anxiety and fear affects your pulse rate and
creates mood disorders, which lead to depression. Ideas that have a strong
emotional content always reach the subconscious mind because it is a feeling
mind. Physicians recognize that if a patient expects to remain sick and
helpless, the expected condition tends to be realized and vise
versa. As it is known, “We become what we think about.”
Hypnosis is the tool to remove despondency and bring
about a hopeful positive expectancy - the
expectancy of health, strength,
and well- being.

The conscious mind is a reasoning mind. Consciousness is a sense of one's
personal and/or collective identity, beliefs, and sensitivities. In simple words, it
is a behavioral norm and rule that we ought to follow in order to fit into society.
Subconsciousness, on the other hand, is a subliminal force that overrides the
reasoning mind and subtly alters our behavior. Therefore, accessing this
level of subconsciousness enables us to reprogram our consciousness;
thereby, meeting our goals including the weight loss.

After discussing matters, the therapist will receive verbal permission from
your subconscious mind. During this altered, sleep-like state, you are the one
who remains in control. The subconscious mind is a union of delicacy and strength.
Respect it. Intention, honesty and rapport between the therapist and the client
are the three pillars on which success is based upon. In other words, you
will not be advised to do anything inappropriate. Your subconscious
mind protects your safety in the face of a
sleeping consciousness.

The secret is in conditioning the mind to make your body the way you
consciously know it should be. We all know that the key to weight control
is a balance between consumed and burned calories. So, how is it possible to follow
your own obligations to yourself? The answer is: by wanting to! Your subconscious
mind may have ideas of its own that are in direct contradiction to your conscious
ideas. For example, you have this really strong desire to be lean and slender,
but every day you find yourself being tempted to eat the way you have been
accustomed to. Hypnosis makes weight control possible. It changes the
subconscious mind and brings it into agreement with conscious
desires. Once you are subconsciously motivated to lose
weight and keep it off, you simply will.
